Re: C/C++ for Programming
I am interested in programming but I feel using IDEs takes the fun away from programming because of it's autocomplete feature we're not doing much work anyway.
Re: C/C++ for Programming
Yeah thats true . But when you start working on huge real time projects, they come in handy. Have you tried your hands on C/C++ ?
Im an ex student and im not aware of the current syllabus.

Re: C/C++ for Programming
Well I have 1 years exp on C++, but I'll start on C because I heard that's what they teach in College. Also have an interest in Game Programming, but since Java doesn't have a game engine like C's XNA it will be a challenge.
Welcome to the LS Forum and I don't think the syllabus has changed that much, school's still using Java 1.4, it's all basics lang, io, util packages.

Re: C/C++ for Programming
Awesome dude! I would suggest you begin with C and get used to it. See its a simpler language but very very powerful. They use it even today in OS development( developing Kenel).

Forget College dude.Trust me.Not many people actually like programming.First thing when you go to college, DO NOT use the compiler/IDE they tell you to use.
I made that mistake. I hope you do not do it.
The main reason is:
1)They suggest Turbo C. Its outdated!
2)It does not adhere to current C/C++ standards.

Re: C/C++ for Programming
I found something called CodeBlocks online. I find it useful. C/C++ are the base languages the java compiler was written in C. It is very popular but java is catching up.
Re: C/C++ for Programming
This is going Off-Topic, let's move the conversation to the ChatBox in the Homepage.
Re: C/C++ for Programming
Yeah..I guess you can dowloadCodeBlocks.Im not sure. Visual C++( i use this ), MingW, gcc to name a few are very good compilers.
Are you interested in Algorithm design?
PS:i hope im not breaking any rule by posting a litttle Off Topic.
